Come out to Point Molate for birding dawn to dusk year-round. There are always birds looking for food, courting, building nests, raising their young. Bring your binoculars and cameras. You can ID birds with your cell phone using iNaturalist or other preferred apps.
Point Molate has a great variety of birds because of its range of habitats. Two hundred and seventeen different species have been identified. Remember to look for shore birds along the waterline and check to see if the osprey are nesting on the platforms. Many species of migratory birds have been observed as they rest at Point Molate, perhaps because Point Molate is quiet and unpopulated by humans at night, and there is a minimum of artificial light.
Try coming back at different times of the day and during different times of the year. Visiting in the early morning is almost always a good bet.
