The wilderness next door

Space to enjoy the bay coastline
Point Molate is a special place with stunning views of the Bay. The tract of land extends downhill from a ridgeline 400 feet in elevation to the water’s edge, and then beneath the surface of the Bay, featuring luxuriant eelgrass meadows. This extensive parkland (412 total acres, with 276 acres above the high tide line) will serve Richmond residents, neighboring communities, and worldwide visitors, offering a peaceful natural environment full of wildlife, with recreation and education for all ages.
Nature prevails
The site bears scars from its use as a WWII Naval fuel depot, but its status as a Navy facility protected it from the kinds of shoreline development that would have destroyed its unique environment. Point Molate still nurtures wildness. Rare plants thrive in secret clefts, osprey scream overhead, and leopard shark young are hunted by otters in eelgrass meadows. You’ll be surprised by what is so near and so accessible.
